Cookie Policy
This page explains which cookies and similar technologies YourBuddyfy uses and why.
In short
- We use only the cookies that are strictly necessary to sign you in and keep your session secure.
- There are no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies and no trackers from other companies.
- Because only strictly necessary cookies are used, the law does not require a consent banner, and we do not show one.
This summary is here to help you. The full text below is what applies.
2. Cookies we use
We use only strictly necessary cookies. They are set when you sign in, and the Service cannot keep you signed in without them. If you only read the public pages, no cookie is set by us.
- Session cookie, named anima.session_token (on the live site the browser shows it as __Secure-anima.session_token). Purpose: sign in and security. It holds a random signed token that identifies your session, and nothing else. It cannot be read by scripts on the page, it is sent only to our own site, and on the live site only over an encrypted connection. Lifetime: up to 14 days, renewed while you keep using the Service, and removed when you sign out.
- The sign in system may set one further technical cookie whose name also starts with anima. to remember a sign in choice, such as not staying signed in after the browser closes. It contains no identifier that could be used for tracking.
All of these are first party cookies, set by our own site. We set no third party cookies.
4. No analytics, no advertising, no tracking
We do not use analytics cookies, advertising cookies, tracking pixels, social media plugins, device fingerprinting or trackers from other companies. Fonts and scripts are served from our own site.
5. Browser storage
The website keeps two small technical values in your browser's own storage. Both are needed for a function you asked for, stay in your browser and are never used to track you:
- Local storage: a short summary of the last photo analysis for a buddy you are building, so the result can be shown again if you reload the page. You can remove it by clearing the site data in your browser.
- Session storage: the email address you typed at sign up, kept so the next screen can offer to send the verification email again. It is removed when you close the tab.
Running a buddy in the browser, on a phone, a tablet or a computer, uses the same sign in cookie and nothing else. The small floating Picture in Picture window sets no cookie and stores nothing in your browser.
6. The desktop app
The Windows desktop app does not use cookies. It keeps the token that links it to your account in the Windows credential store and keeps your local settings, and any memories you chose to keep on the device, in its own data folder on your computer.
7. The payment page
When you buy a licence you leave our site and go to a payment page hosted by Stripe. Stripe sets its own cookies on its own site, for example to prevent fraud and to process the payment. We do not control them. They are described in Stripe's own cookie policy.
8. Your control
You can delete or block cookies and site data in your browser settings at any time. If you block the session cookie you will not be able to sign in. Everything else on the public pages keeps working.
